Identification of paddy field conversion rate in relation to food security in Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province, Indonesia

Abstract Productive paddy fields are an important asset in supporting food security. However, due to the increasing competition for land use with sectors outside agriculture, it has triggered pace of conversion without control and potential threaten stability supply itself. This study aims identify rate field that occurs Aceh Besar Regency, Province, Indonesia. research was conducted through a spatial approach using application Geographic Information Systems (GIS) forms change based on use. The method used is Supervised Classification. results showed highest occurred period 2010-2020 reaching 0.947%/year. not comparable ability substitution efforts made previous ten years (2000-2010) which 0.88 %/year. form dominated by non-agricultural sector, especially residential needs 61.89%. opportunity reduce rice production 1,051.38 / year.
